Before the war to save Middle Earth, there was a war between the King of Rohan and the Lord of Dunlending. The conflict began over who would wed the King's daughter, Hèra. This conflict led to the lord's accidental death, and his son, Wulf, sought revenge upon taking his mantle. The cunning Wulf forced the people of Rohan to flee to their last stronghold, and Hèra waged a war of cunning, patience, and bravery to save her people and Rohan.
This unique movie tells a Lord of the Rings story through anime-style visuals. It expands on the history of Middle Earth. It introduces many new characters and places while bringing back some familiar ones. The story might lose some viewers because it is told in a very Lord of the Rings fashion and occurs before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies. With only the two trilogies to go off of, this movie might leave viewers trying to figure out where it fits in. The story progression makes the two-hour and fourteen-minute runtime feel long, with ample opportunities to lose interest or get distracted. Fans of anime and the Lord of the Rings will enjoy this collaboration, and anyone else will enjoy the novelty.
